Raising the Curtain in the Greater Lynchburg Theatrical Community
The Mark W. Foreman Foundation for the Performing Arts pays tribute to Mark’s legacy of contributing to creative endeavors by providing additional support to persons and organizations in the performing arts community.
Why Is It Important?
Community theater has a postive impact in big and small localities across the globe in a way unlike any other arts and culture genre. It requires a dedicated community of volunteers to produce high-quality live shows, shows that entertain, provoke important societal conversations, and leave lasting impressions. Community theater provides everyone with an opportunity to artistically express themselves, harnessing inner creativity and building personal confidence. Further, the teamwork environment promoted by community theaters encourages people to work together towards a common goal.

Most importantly, the people involved in the Greater Lynchburg community theater body are more than just volunteers and team players. This is a family, a shared experience with all involved from the audience level to those onstage, from behind the curtain to in front of the crowd. For those directly involved, this community is a support system. The bonds formed in all the Lynchburg theaters last a lifetime.

This Foundation was created in honor of Mark W. Foreman, an active community theater member throughout Lynchburg and surrounding localities. Mark exemplified what it means to be a supporter and family member of all community theaters big and small. He recognized that his participation, attendance, and contributions were vital to a production's success. After his untimely passing in June 2022, his family and close friends want to continue his legacy by creating a non-affiliated foundation to raise funds to be spread across the Great Lynchburg community theater body.
