A community theatre is an interactive and collaborative performing arts opportunity that relies fully on the involvement of a surrounding community. Often this requires most if not all participants be volunteers. Productions are done as a social and artistic activity, and taking part in the productions is available to anyone at any level of experience. These shows are often the first opportunity to introduce the performing arts to non-performers.

 

Community theatres are fully reliant on ticket sales, donations, and sponsorships for success and stability. For this reason, the Foundation aims to provide financial and in-kind support for all community theatres in the Lynchburg area.
